We just finished meeting with the neurologist. He informed us there are no strokes, but rather, Dad has a tumor on the right side of his brain, approximately 22mm x 23 mm x 25 mm. (or approximately 2.5 centimeters in length). From the CAT scan, the doctor yesterday had every reason to believe that there had been multiple strokes. The MRI, taken from many different angles, told a different story. Areas that would have been bright had there been strokes, were the same color as the rest of the brain in certain views.
We do not know if the tumor is malignant or not, just that it's not supposed to be there, and it is growing. There is a possibility that the incapacity to use his left arm and hand that we observed yesterday is the result of a mini-seizure connected to the tumor. The doctor described some possible scenarios for resolution, some of which were very aggressive. We reiterated Dad's wish that no heroic measures be taken to extend his life where high risk is involved. Dad often talks about wishing to see Mother, but the future is in the Lord's hands. Please pray as we will be consulting with different physicians and looking at various options for treatment.
