Dad had a good morning, and I met (in between office work on my laptop and cellphones) with two doctors, the Neurologist from yesterday and a new (to Dad) Oncologist. The new one said the tumor is indeed malignant as far as they can tell from the scans but that the only way to be absolutely sure is with a biopsy. He said Dad probably has less than 6 months. The two tests that were taken today was a Doppler to evaluate the carotid arteries, and a full-body CT scan. They want to see if there is any other cancer in the body, and if so then the tumor in his head can be addressed as one issue, and if anything is in the body that can be addressed separately. There are still a lot of unknowns, but once we know our options we can decide from there what direction to take.
Dad's friend and brother in Christ Tom, is going through some similar circumstances, and they were able to be together a few weeks ago, and a video was shown.
Shortly there will be a neurosurgeon involved and he will address whether there are surgery options, and what our percentage of success could be with one of those options. Naturally I will continue to consult Dad's Living Will, talk to him, and the rest of the family as decisions are made. We are grieving Dad's soon departure, but excited for him, that he will soon see the Savior that he has loved and served for so long.
