Monday Aug 17, 2009

August 16. Dad was slow getting up, and was in no condition to go to church. He had been with Stan Fiona and family the prior day. He was not in a good mood, which is rare for him. He was not responsive to a number of things I asked him to do, which was also unusual.

When he ate, he could not use his left hand for many things, and sometimes just held it in the air, and seemed uncertain what he wanted to do with it. In reality he could not get the left arm and hand to do what he wanted.

We took him to Emergency at Baylor-Carrollton at 3:20PM, after being unable to reach his primary care physician at Medical City. They hooked up EKG and started an IV, but did not actually hook anything up to it, and as of this morning there is nothing hooked up to it.

He had a catscan on his head, and attending ER physician said he had a stroke. This morning he is having MRI, and other tests.
